<markupforum/> 2013 - We thank you for a successful event

We would like to warmly thank all those involved for a successful and exciting <markupforum/> 2013 and we hope to also meet with great popularity in the next year by providing high-quality speakers and up-to-date topics.

Welcome speech by the hosts Keynote by Michael Sperberg-McQueen Speeches in the main lecture hall Get-together during the breaks

With about 180 participants, this year's event on 22 November at the Stuttgart Media University (HdM) was a complete success. Numerous presentations and speeches on the topic of "XML editing and workflows" provided the broad audience an overview of the current state and trends for publishing with XML.

The keynote was held by Dr. Michael Sperberg-McQueen, co-developer of XML and former chair of the W3C XML Coordination Group. Gerrit Imsieke of the le-tex publishing services GmbH in Leipzig showed us how to make a XML editor expecting no prior knowledge of XML out of each modern browser.

Gerhard Lier of the SoftProject GmbH in Ettlingen explained why XML is so important for the automatisation of business processes and how XML technologies may accelerate the implementation of processes.

That a publishing company can operate appropriate and efficient processes with "XML first" as well as with "XML last" was demonstrated by Sven Krantz-Knutzen of Wolters Kluwer Deutschland. Thorsten Rohm showed by means of a concrete project how Thieme Compliance uses Schematron for the quality assurance of its XML data.

The final speech was held by Dr. Christian Grün and Dr. Alexander Holupirek of the BaseX GmbH. The two presented the usage of a XML database in the area of content management and explained how such an architecture can be created, applied and integrated into exisiting system landscapes.
