Octopus is an innovative platform that has emerged from many years of joint development work between parsQube GmbH and our sister company data2type GmbH.
It consists of several components, offers a wide range of functions and is regarded as a comprehensive tool for document processing. For example, the platform enables:
- the conversion of around 200 different formats (including PDF, Word, Excel and many more) into XML and other formats (e.g. ePub, WebBook, Word, DITA, HTML, SCORM, etc.),
- the generation and extraction of text and its semantic enrichment.
Other key features include:
- translation services,
- speech recognition,
- OCR tools,
- and various AI applications.
Octopus stands out above all for its flexibility in processing documents. Content can be processed regardless of its original formatting or semantics, ensuring consistent handling. The platform enables the analysis of PDF documents and captures information that can later be written back into the original document. Structures such as lists, tables, images and references are represented in XML. Octopus also offers AI-powered features such as keyword generation, text summaries, link recognition and image descriptions, which are particularly useful for editorial processes.
The platform is also capable of integrating and executing external services, which expands its range of applications. Its use cases are diverse and include, amongst other things, the creation of chatbots, the fine-tuning of AI models and Regex-based support. The multi-functional Octopus suite is designed to automate stable and efficient processes and provides REST APIs that enable easy integration with other systems. The various, modular components of the platform can also be used independently of one another.
